PROJECTIntroduction [Biosketch]
- Dr. Vinyas Mahesh works as an Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Silchar (since 2021). Previously, he was a Royal Society Newton International Fellow and Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Engineering at City, University of London (June 2022-May 2024). His research mainly focuses on smart materials and structures. Alongside, he rigorously works on impact analysis of composite structures and additive manufacturing of recyclable/multifunctional composite structures. He has also served as a CV Raman Fellow (one of the prestigious fellowships in India) at Indian Institute of Science from June 2019- Feb 2021. Very recently, he secured 'Summer research fellowship-2025' offered by Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc).
- His research works have led to more than 150 publications in international Journals, conferences and book chapters. Very recently, he was elected as the Early Career Editorial Board Member for reputed journals such as 'Journal of Applied Biomaterials and Functional Materials', 'Defence Technology' and 'International Journal of Smart and Nano Materials'. In addition, he has featured in the World's top 2% scientists list curated by Stanford University consecutively for the past four years.
- His main teaching activities cover subjects such as structural mechanics, finite element method and composites at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
