Introduction [Biosketch]

  • Dr. Sudipta Halder obtained his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with distinction from Visvesvaraya Technological University in 2003. He completed his master’s degree at IIEST Shibpur in 2005. He embarked on focused research to develop high strength, high performance and cost-effective nano-filler adhesive to be used in the joining of metallic substrates for his Doctoral degree at IIT Roorkee. The research work carried out by him is quite relevant to the advanced research of nanoscience and technology in order to support the cutting-edge technology of advanced applications. The research work was very challenging and he fulfilled all the requirements to open a new direction of technology development in the area of polymer-based nanocomposite materials. He started his career as a Specialist Engineer in 2008 at the Process & Technology division at Tata Consulting Engineers Limited. Later, in 2012, he joined the National Institute of Technology Silchar (An Institute of National Importance by MHRD, Govt. of India) as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In 2016, he was awarded Bhawan fellowship for one year to conduct his post-doctoral research program on novel encapsulation technology at the University of Alabama, USA. In 2020, he worked as an Associate Research Scientist at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at The University of Alabama, USA, to research vitrimer based composites and filament-winded composites. Presently, he is working as an Associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIT Silchar. He has five Indian patents to his credit and has published more than 66 research papers in referred journals and an equal number in conference proceedings. He has the distinction of guiding several students toward their master's and doctoral degrees. Ten (10) research scholars and twenty-eight (28) postgraduate students finished their research projects under his guidance, while three research scholars are now working under his guidance to develop cutting-edge technology to meet the demands of modern society. His study was supported by around 13 externally funded projects (Total Sponsorship received to date of INR Thirty Million Six Hundred Thirty Eight Thousand only) from different sponsoring organizations, including ANRF, NMHS, and IUSSTF.
