Introduction [Biosketch]

  • Dr. Gautam Choubey is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Silchar Assam, India. Before joining NIT Silchar, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at IITRAM, Ahmedabad (An Autonomous Govt. University), India from December 2019 to December 2023, as a Senior Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at MITS-UGC Autonomous Institute, Andhra Pradesh from October 2018 to November 2019, and as a Temporary Faculty, at NIT Silchar from July 2017 to June 2018. He holds a Ph.D. in the field of supersonic combustion, an M.Tech in Thermal Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Silchar Assam India, and a B.Tech from Punjab (under State Govt. University) in 1st division with distinction (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering in 2012. For the past 12 years, his research has focused on computational fluid dynamics modelling of supersonic compressible flow, and has demonstrated his contribution through several research publications in Q1 journals (SCI/SCIE). His research interests mainly include scramjet combustion, supersonic combustion, turbulence modelling in high-speed flows, Aerodynamics and shock-boundary layer interaction

Aerodynamics and Propulsion Lab under the Centre of Excellence in Aerospace and Defence,

The Aerodynamics and Propulsion Lab was established in 2023 at IITRAM. This lab facility is dedicated to UG, PG, and PhD students passionate about aerospace research, providing a dynamic environment for innovation and exploration. Equipped with advanced computational and experimental tools, the lab supports research in aerodynamics, propulsion systems, helping students develop skills and knowledge in aerospace engineering.
