The Department has been offering the PhD programme since 2006. The Department covers a number of areas in social sciences and language like Economics, Education, Philosophy, and English. The Department has the distinction of producing the first PhD from NIT Silchar. Currently there are 32 number of registered PhD scholars associated with the department.
