Research Group
- Our research group is dedicated to designing and synthesising novel nitrogen-based heterocyclic frameworks using controlled organic reactions. These frameworks are then coordinated with transition metals to generate structurally diverse metal complexes. The synthesized compounds are extensively studied for their supramolecular interactions, particularly in host-guest chemistry and self-assembly processes, which contribute to molecular recognition and advanced material development. A key application includes hydrogel formation, where these compounds act as supramolecular gelators, forming intricate self-assembled networks in both aqueous and organic environments. Additionally, their chemosensing properties are explored for the selective detection of biologically and environmentally relevant cations, anions, and amino acids using spectroscopic and colorimetric techniques. The metal complexes are further investigated for biological interactions, particularly their binding affinity with serum albumins (HSA/BSA) and DNA, highlighting their potential for medicinal applications such as antimicrobial and cytotoxic potential against carcinomas, drug delivery, biomolecular recognition, and therapeutic development.
