ABOUT US

National Institute of Technology(NIT) Silchar (an Institute of National Importance under MHRD, Govt of India), was established in 1967 as Regional Engineering college (REC) Silchar Assam. In 2002 it is upgraded to NIT. It is situated on the banks of Barak river with an astounding green campus. The campus is fully covered by green trees making it the one of the beautiful institute in India. NIT Silchar offers six UG and Ten PG courses. The Department of ECE offers B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD degrees. The institute is well known for its notable work in technical field. The institute is having well equipped laboratories with state of art scientific Tools. It makes the Research scholar to work 24 hours to achieve new heights in technical field.

ABOUT ECE DEPARTMENT

Electronics and Communication Department in NIT Silchar is most leading department in both Academic and Research streams. The Faculty and Ph.D. Scholars are fully devoted for technical research. Department is having different labs Communication lab, Antennas lab, VLSI Research Lab, Image Processing lab, Devices Lab and MEMS Lab covering almost all research areas in the field of Electronics and fully equipped with high speed PCs and state of art Equipment. MEMS and VLSI labs devoted for the miniaturization of device dimensions. The two labs are in collaboration to get new and useful devices for better society comfort. MEMS lab is having COMSOL Multiphysics, Coventor and MEMS+ licensed software’s for simulation works.

ABOUT NMDC

National MEMS Design Center in NIT Silchar established in association with IISC Bangalore and NPMASS for the upliftment of MEMS research in Northeast region. NMDC is now supported by NIT Silchar and is fully equipped with software tools for MEMS designing and analysis. It is presently having COMSOL Multiphysics, CoventorWare, Intellisuite and MEMS+. The lab has highly contributed to the research community by producing good research papers and potential researchers. The works that are being carried out by the NMDC are important for social welfare such as Kidney-on-Chip, Micro Mixers, Bio-Sensors, RF Switches, Energy Harvesters, etc.
