             Welcome to the NIT Silchar IEEE Student Branch! Inaugurated on 29 April 2009, in a short span the society has made a name for itself through hosting world-class seminars, workshops, movie nights, etc.
    IEEE NITS (National Institute of Technology, Silchar) is one of the many student organizations working under IEEE, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, headquartered in USA. We are a part of the IEEE Kolkata Section, under Asia Pacific Region (IEEE Region 10). Being one of the few IEEE branches in the north-east, we hope to fulfill our role to bring the latest innovations in technology to this vibrant corner of India.

• IEEE Kolkata Section One Day Seminar on 4th September 2009

           As part of its IEEE OUTREACH EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES SERIES- 2009, IEEE Kolkata Section organized a One Day Seminar in collaboration with the NIT Silchar IEEE Student Branch on TRENDS IN WIRELESS   NETWORK TECHNOLOGY AND APPLICATIONS on September 4, 2009 at NIT Silchar.

Prof. Chandan K Sarkar, Jadavpur University (IEEE Distinguished Lecturer)

              The lecture series covered areas of immense technological relevance, such as  Mobile Wimax Technology, Integration of 3g and WLAN and Advanced MOSFETS. 

• Peter A. Garretson Seminar on 30th October 2009

       NIT Silchar had the privilege of witnessing an exciting seminar by Mr. Peter A. Garretson on Space Solar Alliance for Future Energy. It was organized on the 30th of October, 2009 under the collaboration of the IEEE Student Branch NIT Silchar, and the Gymkhana Union Body.
  Mr. Peter Garretson is an Airpower & Space power Strategist. He is currently a visiting fellow at the Indian Institute for Defense Studies and Analysis (IDSA). He was awarded the National Space Society's (NSS) 2008 Space Pioneer Award for his previous work on grand space development vision and strategy.
          A tech scout, strategist, and futurist, he shared his diverse experience base in long range strategic planning, technology forecasting and advanced concept development with the students and faculty of NIT Silchar. The two hour seminar gave a valuable insight on life threatening issues of the planet and also the various developments and research taking place on the international platform regarding future ways to tackle energy crisis. The seminar was followed by a query session in which the students interacted with him.
