MESSAGE OF THE CHIEF VIGILANCE OFFICER
In the making of potential professionals with bigger responsibilities in the society in future, the value of integrity in an educational institution like National Institute of Technology, Silchar, is of utmost important. Integrity in an educational institution like ours stands on five fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness/transparency, respect, responsibility and above all the courage. Integrity must be fostered, inculcated, imbibed and regularly reinforced in every individual.
Corruption, irregularities and mal-practices in an educational institution have multi-dimensional and far reaching negative consequences which must be fought on multiple fronts with vigilance administration playing the key role. This oversight mechanism, led by the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at the institute level, is crucial. An effective vigilance includes preventive and punitive measures against corruption, detecting irregularities, identifying their causes, and making systemic improvements. The CVO is responsible for safeguarding the identity of whistleblowers who report irregularities.
Any instance of corruption, irregularities and mal-practices or suggestion for improving the present practice/ bringing about more transparency may kindly be brought to the notice of CVO at the following address.
