The 28th edition of the national conference “Condensed Matter Days 2020" (CMDAYS 20) will be organised in online mode jointly by the Department of Physics and Institute Innovation Cell, National Institute of Technology Silchar, Assam, India . Condensed Matter Physics, with its truly interdisciplinary characters enjoys its technological implications both in fundamental and applied research. "Condensed Matter Days" aims to provide a suitable platform for scientists, academicians and young researchers to present their works on chosen topics of technological relevance. The Conference is expected to result in sustained collaborations through sharing of ideas and techniques of mutual interest.

National Institute of Technology Silchar, Assam is recognised as one of the top educational and research institute in India. NIT Silchar is continuously ranked within the top-100 institutes in India by NlRF, MHRD, Govt. of India. In 2020, Times Higher Education Ranking recognised the NIT Silchar as one of the top-1000 institutes in the world. NIT Silchar is located in the southern part of Assam. The institute was established in the year 1967 and in 2002 it was upgraded to the status of 'National Institute of Technology' and was declared as an 'Institute of National Importance' in 2007.
NIT Silchar is a fully residential campus sprawling over an area of 625 acres of land surrounded by scenic tea gardens and lakes. NIT Silchar is one of the greenest and sustainable campus that produce around one-third of its own energy from solar energy.
The institute offers UG, PG and PhD programmes in various disciplines of Science and Technology. Institute promotes start-ups, innovation, with thrust on national sustainable goals.
Department of Physics offers MSc. Physics and PhD in research areas: Experimental condensed matter physics, Theoretical condensed matter physics, High energy physics, etc. The department has sophisticated and modern laboratory for theoretical and experimental research.
